Mucositis is defined as the appearance of sores in the mouth and/or throat, limiting food intake. In head and neck cancer it appears as a consequence of treatment, especially during radiotherapy, but it can also occur during chemotherapy or due to other drugs. Depending on the location of the tumour and the dosage applied, it can appear in a mild or intense form, significantly limiting traditional food, making necessary to modify the texture of food.
